SESSION A - "Ballet Royalty"

AGES 2 1/2 – 4 1/2

(For children who have not yet entered the first grade)

This fun and educational program is designed to introduce children to the structure of a classical ballet class while learning the terminology of ballet and helping to understand movement with music.  There is serious concentration on the muscle development and movement coordination at this level. At the same time we incorporate the fun dance brings into our world and also the many ways to celebrate and enjoy dance.  It is important for us to mention that in order to have full attention of our students, we do not allow parent observation during classes however keep reading below for information about the special day we do let you come in!

5 of the 6 classes will include traditional dance training for this age group mixed with a daily lesson about many of the royal characters from some of the loved classical ballet stories.  Children will learn typical dance steps often used for each piece of music that coordinates with each character and even see stunning professional costumes used by our own Braintree Ballet Company.  They will meet and dance with some of our principal company dancers as well as some of our student apprentices.  On our final day of classes, our session will conclude with a ceremony crowing all our dancers enrolled in this program as "Ballet Royalty". We will invite the parents to witness this splendid occasion!

Young dancers can really thrive from this program.  It allows the child to adapt to the learning environment of a dance classroom while also allowing the child to challenge their own abilities- all mixed with how to have fun with dance!

Dancers enrolled in this program will also have the opportunity to meet with some of the members of The Braintree Ballet Company, our own ballet company within the studio.  These dancers are some of the principal dancers you may have seen in our annual Nutcracker Ballet performed here in Braintree every December.  The children will see, close up, Pointe shoes, professional ballet tutus and rhinestone tiaras.  The interaction between young dancers and the company members has really helped to inspire children to love dance and work hard to learn the art of classical ballet.

Cost for the program $150.00 - 60 Min. class

SESSION B  AGES 5 - 10

 “World of Dance"

This is a great dance program for this age group!  A lot will be offered to give the students a look into the many styles of dance they can enjoy in their years of training. We are calling it the “World of dance” session because the dancers will be exposed to so many types of dance during this session.

This program offers classes in classical ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, musical theater and much more!  It is a program for those who love to dance, want to learn to dance, or even check out our studio!

In our basic core classes (ballet, tap and jazz) there is  much emphasis on proper use of correct terminology and technique, body placement and music development so that we may continue to help the dancer who is looking to progress by attending summer dance classes.  Warm ups, progressions, technique and combinations/routines will all be the forces used to help teach and improve the students during this summer program.  The additional classes in more commercial and newer styles of dance are offered to expose the dancers to as much as we can which all helps create the well-rounded student.  At the Dance Studio of Braintree, our main focus of study is classical ballet however we strive to create an educated dancer who just happens to have extraordinary technique in all forms of dance from becoming well versed in classical ballet.

Each day the dancers will not know what to expect for classes.  We want to surprise them and give them so many opportunities.  It is recommended that students bring all dance shoes and attire each day so they are prepared for what may be taught.

Dancers may bring a water bottle with them and we have a poland springs bubbler to fill them up if need be.

Cost for the program is $325.00

Tuition must be paid at the time of registration.  A $25.00 fee will be charged for returned checks.     No refunds given as of 6/01/17

For dancers that are new to our studio, prior ballet training is a must for this program.  Without prior classical ballet training, a dancer will not be able to participate in the program as it is not a beginner level.  The basics that ballet teaches which are carried over into all other dance forms is critical at this age and level therefore we do require prior ballet training for all new students at this level.
